Miriam (Hungarian: Mária), the sister of Moses and Aaron, and a prophetess of Israel; in the drama she is assaulted by the Steward in Act One, consecrated by Moses as an inspired vessel of God's word, beats the drum at the Exodus, and slowly breaks under the burden of prophetic possession through the following acts, dying peacefully in Act Five.
