Aristophanes

also: Arisztophanész

Aristophanes (c. 446–386 BC), Athenian comic playwright known for political satire and animal/insect choruses (Wasps, Birds, Frogs). Madách's subtitle declares The Civilizer a comedy in his manner; the cockroach chorus directly echoes the Aristophanic beast-chorus tradition.
