A Midsummer Night's Dream

Midsummer Night's Dream

also: Szentivánéji álom, A Midsummer Night's Dream

A comedy by William Shakespeare (c. 1595–96) set in a magical forest where fairies, lovers, and artisans become entangled in dreams and enchantments. The play was an important touchstone for Hungarian Romantic poets including Madách, who encountered it in Sándor Petőfi's celebrated Hungarian translation.
