Mihály Tompa (1817–1868), Hungarian lyric poet and Calvinist pastor, celebrated for his patriotic allegorical poems written during the Bach era of Habsburg repression; with Arany and Petőfi he formed the celebrated 'triad' of mid-19th-century Hungarian poetry.
