Rudolf II

Rudolf II (1552–1612), Holy Roman Emperor who made Prague his capital and was a famous patron of astrology, alchemy, and the arts. In scene 8, his court is the setting for Kepler's compromised position as imperial mathematician obliged to produce horoscopes to survive.
