Jericho, the fortified Canaanite city whose walls fell miraculously at the trumpet-blast of Joshua's army (Joshua 6); Józsué's closing battle-cry — 'to the gate of Jericho' — is the drama's final image, linking the end of Moses's era to the beginning of Joshua's.
