Spiridion

The fictional protagonist of 'Ecce Homo', raised on Java by his dying father amid the poison valley; he later discovers he is the illegitimate son of Count Conti and Countess Gordon, and falls unknowingly in love with his own sister Estrella. His name (from the Greek 'Spyridon') marks his Greek-island or Eastern-Christian cultural atmosphere.
