Ilona Zrínyi

Ilona Zrínyi (1643–1703), Hungarian noblewoman who led the three-year defense of Munkács Castle against Habsburg forces and was mother of Ferenc Rákóczi II. For Madách the supreme example of female heroism through purely womanly virtues.
