Charles of Durazzo (Durazzó Károly; 1345–1386), great-nephew of Louis the Great and king of Naples; he invaded Hungary in 1385, was crowned Charles II of Hungary in December 1385, and was assassinated in Buda in February 1386, about 38 days after his coronation. He is presented in the drama as personally honourable but politically manipulated by the Horváthy faction.
