The tribe of Levi (Hebrew: שֵׁבֶט לֵוִי), one of the twelve tribes of Israel, from which Moses and Aaron descended; later designated as the priestly class. In the drama, the Levites are the only faction to remain faithful to Moses during the golden calf episode, and Józsué recruits them for the slaughter of the idolaters.
